Licensing

Our friendly and approachable Licensing team has almost 100 years’ combined experience in this field. We are experts in all aspects of licensing law, whether for alcohol sale or supply, entertainment, gaming or betting.

We handled hundreds of applications for conversion and/or variation during the implementation of the Licensing Act 2003 during 2005. We held a series of free seminars to explain the effect of the new law to licensees, all of whom rated the seminars as either “excellent” or “very good”. We will be running another series of  seminars later this year.

We will be happy to deal with applications for new premises and personal licences for a fixed fee, dependant upon the nature of your  premises and the complexity of the application involved. You may wish to take the opportunity to vary your existing licence to take advantage of the end of permitted hours and drinking up time, or to allow live music or entertainment which are now licensable activities. We can guide you through this complicated area of new law to ensure maximum profitability for your business.

In addition to licensing law we can deal with all the regulatory aspects of  operating a licensed business in the 21st Century. For example, a licensee must comply with all of the relevant legislation relating to Health and Safety, Weights and Measures, Food Safety, Trading Standards and Disability Discrimination , not to mention ensuring there is no risk of prosecution for underage sales, breaches of conditions on the Premises Licence and copyright issues concerning satellite sports, music etc.

In conjunction  with our Commercial, Property and Employment departments we can provide your business with a complete package of legal services.
